Apply to the Shi Scholarship

The scholarship seeks outstanding early-career professionals from Taiwan who recently graduated from medical school, PGY, or residency, have shown a commitment to furthering Taiwan’s healthcare, and are interested in a lifelong engagement with the healthcare community.

Benefits

Our program is designed to be highly personalized and adaptable, meeting the changing needs of scholars as they progress through their careers. Our goal is to empower scholars with tailored support, helping them achieve their goals and make a lasting impact in the world through their work.

Leadership Summit

A fully-funded leadership training program with other members of the cohort to better understand healthcare through the lens of the healthcare C-Suite.

Taiwan - US Network

Scholars have access to a network across academia, industries, and geographic regions. They can also connect with international partners and other cohort scholars based on common interests, launch enterprises, and collaborate together.

Mentorship & Career Services

Each scholar is paired with a mentor who provides personal, academic, or professional guidance, as well as specialized career services for internships and jobs.

Graduate Scholarships

A two-year, post-secondary scholarship at a partner US institution (e.g., Stanford, Duke) including tuition and a living stipend, based on need and where not already covered by financial aid.

Education

Virtual and in-person leadership and educational courses designed specifically for the Shi Scholars.

Career Acceleration

A network based on decades of healthcare experience in Taiwan, offering opportunities not available in the country, all to improve your skills and knowledge to challenge and advance your career.

Basic Requirements

To apply for the scholarship, the applicant must:

  • <35 years old at the time of application

  • Has a record of leadership and commitment to improving healthcare

  • Passionate about making transformative changes in the healthcare industry

  • Resident of Taiwan who graduated from an accredited Taiwan medical school with an MD degree

  • References from medical school and/or residency that support candidacy when inquired (English preferred)

  • Proficient in spoken and written English

  • Completed application form (link)

  • Current resume or CV

  • 2 - 4 letters of recommendation (in English)

  • Personal statement (tips to write a personal statement)

  • Evidence of licensure in Taiwan

  • Medical school/residency transcript (if applicable)
